As our community begins to recover from the tragic events of the past week, the SMNLL Executive Board will be holding baseball and softball evaluations for Farm, Minors, and Majors this Saturday, January 18th at Huntington Middle School. We understand that this weekend could be too soon for some families who have been affected by the fires to be able to participate, but in the interest of getting kids playing soon, we are moving forward with evaluations in order to be able to form teams over the next week. We will work with families whose situations do not allow them to participate to ensure that their player is placed on a team. Please note that T-Ball and Coach Pitch players DO NOT need to attend evaluations, and teams will be formed in early February. SMNLL holds evaluations in order to create balanced teams and make sure each player ends up in the appropriate division. Evaluations consist of hitting and defensive drills, and players do not need to have baseball/softball experience, but they do need to bring an appropriate glove and preferably their own bat and helmet. Please arrive 20-30 minutes to the HMS blacktop (location HERE) before your scheduled evaluation so your player can be checked in. Note that our registration for Farm and older divisions closes at 11:59pm on Friday, January 17th, so be sure to register ASAP!
